The Best Candidates For Juvederm Dermal Filler
Juvederm Dermal Filler is a smooth gel filler used to instantly smooth away wrinkles around your mouth and nose. The areas that may improve with injectable fillers include the cheeks, creases from the nose to the corners of the mouth (“laugh lines”), lines running from the corners of the mouth (“marionette lines”), and to better define the jaw line. Juvederm may also be injected into the lips to either augment and/or better define the lips
Every Procedure Carries Some Uncertainty & Risk
When Juvederm is performed by a board certified plastic surgeon, complications are infrequent and usually minor. Still, individuals vary greatly in their anatomy, physical reactions, and healing abilities; therefore the outcome is never completely predictable. Complications that can occur include bleeding, bruising, firmness of the product, redness, and asymmetry. You will reduce your risks by closely following Dr. Baroody’s instructions both before and after your procedure with Juvederm.
Planning For Your Procedure
During your initial consultation with Dr. Baroody, he will evaluate your face and discuss your concerns. Dr. Baroody will review any medications or supplements that may cause problems during or after your procedure, such as Aspirin or Ibuprofen. Be sure to inform Dr. Baroody if you smoke or are taking any supplements/medications. If Juvederm is right for you, Dr. Baroody will explain the techniques, potential complications, before and after instructions, as well as medications you should avoid. Do not hesitate to ask Dr. Baroody any questions you may have, especially those regarding your expectations and concerns about the results.
Preparing For Your Procedure
Refrain from taking medications that will thin your blood such as Aspirin and Ibuprofen. If you are taking blood thinners prescribed by your physician because of a medical condition than discuss this with Dr. Baroody before stopping the medication. Although it is unlikely that you will bruise significantly following your Juvederm procedure, do not plan any significant social events for about a week afterward just in case.
Where Your Juvederm Procedure Will Be Performed
The Juvederm procedure will be performed in Dr. Baroody’s office.
The Juvederm Procedure
Dr. Baroody will place a specially compounded topical anesthetic gel for 15-30 minutes prior to your Juvederm injections. If you are having the procedure placed in your lips, Dr. Baroody will give injections of lidocaine initially to completely numb your lips so you will not feel the Juvederm injections. The numbness will wear off in 1-2 hours. Ice will be administered during the procedure to decrease bruising and swelling.
Introducing DermaSculpt™ Microcannula
Developed in France, this microcannula is truly revolutionizing the way Dr. Baroody is performing facial filler injections! Typical fillers may leave swelling and bruising after the injection. DermaSculpt™ uses non-bruising, extra smooth microcannulas so fillers can be injected into the skin with no anesthesia and little to no pain. With DermaSculpt™, the same wrinkles and creases that were treatable by injecting dermal fillers through needles can be smoothed. Excellent results are also achievable when adding volume to sunken cheeks and thin lips.
After Your Juvederm Procedure
Take it easy for the remainder of the day. Expect some redness and swelling for 24-36 hours. The vast majority of the swelling will have resolved by the next morning. Place cold packs on the treated areas as needed for comfort. Even though Dr. Baroody uses various approaches to minimize bruising such as a topical agent and ice during/after the procedure you may bruise for 2-7 days. Typically make-up may cover the bruising as it resolves.
